2025 Maintenance & Operations Override Election
The deadline for submitting arguments for or against the override is August 8th, 2025. This spring, the Peoria Unified Governing Board voted unanimously to order all matters necessary for a 15% maintenance and operations budget override election to be held on November 4, 2025. The current override was approved in 2020 and provides approximately $33 million dollars of funding annually. If approved by voters, the increase to a 15% override would provide approximately $5 million dollars of additional funding that would allow the district to provide enhanced safety and special education programs.

Our District is A Rated!
Peoria Unified celebrates the release of school letter grades for its 42 graded schools, with 95 percent, or 40 schools, receiving an A or B label. This means that Peoria Unified is once again an A-Rated School District!

Patriotic Speech Contest
Four Peoria Unified students emerged as first-place winners in the district’s 38th Annual Patriotic Speech Contest held on Thursday, March 6. These students competed in front of their peers at their school sites earlier in the spring semester and advanced to the district level competition where they delivered their presentation in front of an esteemed group of judges. The top winners in the 5th and 6th grade division are Harlow F. from Vistancia and Emilyn S. from Lake Pleasant. The top winners in the 7th and 8th grade division are Yasmeen B. from Oakwood and Lauren T. from Lake Pleasant.

Step Aside March Madness
Over 60 talented high school mathletes gathered at the District Administration Center for a thrilling day of mathematical challenges. Students from Centennial, Ironwood, Liberty, Peoria, and Raymond S. Kellis High Schools first showcased their skills at their respective campuses to earn a spot in the district competition. The competition tested their mastery of mathematical theorems and formulas, spanning from basic algebra to advanced calculus. In the afternoon, teamwork took center stage as students collaborated to solve more complex mathematical puzzles. Ironwood High School emerged victoriously, clinching the championship trophy.

Clear Bag Guidelines
In alignment with many other of our peer school districts, Peoria Unified will implement a requirement that only clear bags may be used at all after-school sports and extracurricular events held at any Peoria Unified high school beginning in 2024-25 school year. Using clear bags enhances safety measures which is a shared responsibility for everyone who attends district’s events at our high schools. It will also streamline the entry process for guests attending these events.

2025 Spelling Bee Winners
Argot! That was the winning word in today's annual District Spelling Bee, correctly spelled by Riki Gross, an 8th-grader from Oasis Elementary School in the 11th round.

Peoria Unified Implements Bond Refunding to Benefit Community Taxpayers
At the March 14, 2024, Governing Board meeting, the Peoria Unified Governing Board voted 4-0 to approve the district to pursue a bond refunding related to prior bond sales in 2012, 2013 and 2014 that have become callable for early redemption.
